I have answered some frequently asked questions below. Please contact my secretary Anne-Marie at info@lyndseyhighton.com or 0161 447 6759 if you cannot find the answer you are looking for.
Where can I see you?
My private practice is based at Spire Manchester Hospital and Euxton Hall Hospital in Chorley, Lancashire.
How do I arrange a consultation?
You can arrange a consultation by contacting the hospital directly. Alternatively, contact my secretary Anne-Marie at info@lyndseyhighton.com or 0161 447 6759.
Do I need a GP referral?
Private health insurance companies usually require a GP referral before they will authorise a consultation. Generally, patients seeking cosmetic surgery do not need a GP referral. However, it is good practice to inform your GP if you are proceeding with surgery.
What happens at my initial consultation?
The initial consultation will last for 15 to 30 minutes depending on the complexity of treatment you are seeking. We will explore why you want to change your appearance, your concerns and goals. I will establish any previous and active medical problems and document any medication you take. I will ask about smoking and alcohol intake.
I will examine you and advise on the best option or range of options to address your concerns. As a female surgeon, I aim to make you feel comfortable and at ease. We will spend time discussing the treatment options, recovery process and potential complications. It is often informative to view my portfolio of before and after photos, although it is important to appreciate that everyone is different. Cosmetic surgery can be transformative, but it is a big decision and it is important patients are fully informed.
Following the consultation, you will receive a written summary of our consultation and a quotation for treatment. I usually include an information leaflet with more detail on the relevant procedure.
Patients who would like to be treated by a female-only team can be accommodated.
How can I book my procedure?
You can make arrangements for your procedure by contacting my secretary. I will always meet you for a further consultation prior to surgery so we can confirm the treatment plan and I can address any unanswered questions.
When we have confirmed your surgery date you will receive all of the information you need regarding your admission. You will be asked to attend a pre-operative assessment.
What happens after my procedure?
I will review you before discharge. You will be given instructions to follow at home and any medication you need. We will arrange follow-up appointments as required.
If you have any concerns in the immediate post-operative period expert advice is available at the hospital around the clock. During working hours my secretary is available to take your call. Out of hours you should contact the hospital directly and these contact details will be provided on discharge.
Your recovery time will depend on the procedure you have had, along with your general fitness.
